The Irish Donkey society is active in the following areas:
- maintaining a list of judges for shows throughout the country
- producing regular newsletters
- advising members and non-members alike on husbandry and care of donkeys
- raising issues of importance to the welfare of donkeys with relevant Government or private/voluntary bodies
- maintaining the IDS Stand presence at a number of Livestock & Agricultural showsÂ
In addition individual members are involved in showing donkeys, attending charitable events in conjunction with their donkeys, providing assistance to live cribs & nativity celebrations, visiting elderly and handicapped people. The most active member is presented with the Pam Jermyn trophy at the AGM each year in recognition of their efforts.
