Showing Rules for National Donkey Show, Woodfield Farm, May 7th 2007
- The Age of a Donkey shall be calculated from the 1st of January in the year of its birth.
- All donkey stallions in any class must be handled by adults over 18 years of age and with a bit.
- Entries will be taken on the field.
- All classes will start at the appointed time as per the notices on the field and catalogue.
- Donkey foals will be eligible where they have been born since the 1st of January of the current year only.
- Donkey Mares must be 3 years or older.
- Donkey Stallions must be 3 years or older.
- Donkey Stallions must be well in hand. Stallions and their owners will be disqualified where the stallion exhibits fractious behaviour, where control is lost to the extent of disturbing other exhibitors or where in the opinion of the stewards or judge, there is any risk of injury to the handler, public or the animal itself.
- A competitor wishing to register any objection or complaint in relation to the judging of the classes should do so in writing to the Secretary of the society within 3 days of the show outlining the nature of the complaint and any supporting evidence which will be reviewed in attaining a ruling on the complaint. The complaint should be accompanied by a deposit of €50 which will be refunded in the event of the complaint being upheld. The complaint will be reviewed by 3 members of the committee of the Irish Donkey Society and a competent third party to be selected by the committee. An appropriate investigation will be carried out and a decision put in writing within 10 days of the complaint being received.
- The winning donkey from each qualifying class will be entered in the championship which takes place at sharp.
- In all cases the judges’ opinion is final. Abuse of the judge will not be tolerated in any case.
